Nathan and/or Klein
I think Nathan confirms my experiences as a student because sometimes it is easy to cheat without knowing I am cheating. I also don't support the idea of cheating even though I know everyone does it and that it's just as easy and tempting for me to cheat as well, especially when it's a class that I don't necessarily need for my career in the future. I can see how the culture around students can make them cheat even though I personally don't let it effect me, and it is also possible that the unclear instructions of the teacher can make it easier to cheat because he or she doesn't give clear guidelines for what he or she wants the students to do. Cheating is not only morally wrong for me, but it also cheats me out of the true grade that I need to work for. I can still understand the factors that students face that make it easy to cheat, especially in college.

It's interesting that you find that student are tempted to cheat a lot. Do you mostly see that hear or are you speaking in general terms? I agree with how teachers are not always clear. That personally annoys me, but what are you feelings on so much group work? Do you feel that also increases the temptation and/or makes students less aware of what cheating is? Good work!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean that you see how culture affects students temptation to cheat? So you think that it is based on a cultures of a certain country and/or state? Or do you think that it varied more from university to university? Also, I think teachers could be a little more clear about what they constitute as cheating, because it could vary from class to class or from teacher to teacher. But with that being said, I also think that teachers assume that all students have the integrity to not cheat, no matter if they say so explicitly or not. Good thoughts here though!
